1. Who we are
My Digital Magnets is operated by Simple Apps Company (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
Website: https://mydigitalmagnets.com
Privacy contact: privacy@mydigitalmagnets.com
Support contact: support@mydigitalmagnets.com
Postal address: Rua do Vale Formoso de Cima 1, Lisbon, Portugal
Simple Apps Company is the publisher name supplied for this site. If the full registered legal entity name differs, it must replace this name before publishing.
This policy explains how My Digital Magnets handles personal data through the iOS app, its widget, and the mydigitalmagnets.com website.
2. Information we collect
Account and contact information
We may collect your email address, Sign in with Apple identifier, Apple private relay email, display name, username, preferred language, and account identifier.
Profile and public content
We may collect your profile image, biography, public username, public fridge preference, followed accounts, designer identity, and other information you intentionally add to your profile.
Location and travel records
When you choose to check in, we collect your precise latitude, longitude, location accuracy, selected destination, check-in time, verification result, and related travel-access window. We use this information to confirm that you are at an eligible destination and to unlock location-dependent app features.
Location is requested only when you initiate a location or check-in action, with While Using the App permission. The permission message is: “Your location verifies travel check-ins and unlocks destination magnets.” Coordinates, accuracy, destination and timestamp are sent to the app backend to validate the destination geofence and create check-in and 15-day travel-window records.
The app does not request background location and does not continuously track your location. Location is not sold or used for advertising.
Collection and app activity
We store the magnets you collect, wishlist entries, fridge layout and style, collection history, check-ins, travel windows, follows, notification preferences, public-fridge views, and synchronization activity.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple. We receive product identifiers, transaction identifiers, original transaction identifiers, purchase time, storefront information, revocation or refund status, and Apple-signed transaction data required to verify and fulfil a purchase.
We do not receive or store your payment-card number, bank details, or Apple Account password.
Gifts
When you create or claim a gift, we may process the sender and recipient account identifiers, recipient email address, gift message, magnet identifier, delivery method, creation date, expiry date, opening date, and claim status.
Photos and artwork
If you select a profile image, we process and upload the chosen image. Designer applicants may also upload artwork and provide a portfolio URL, proposal, discipline, location, country, and region.
The app uses Apple’s system PhotosPicker for selected profile images and designer artwork, not unrestricted photo-library access. It does not request camera access. Selected profile images are resized before upload to file storage. Selected designer artwork is uploaded for review or publication. No face recognition or face-template processing is used.
Notifications and device information
If notifications are enabled, we store an Apple Push Notification service device token, platform information, notification preferences, delivery status, and limited delivery-error information.
Optional alerts, sounds and badges are requested during onboarding or after a verified check-in. Notifications cover gifts, trip-window reminders, collections, wishlists, social activity and digests. Category preferences are stored locally and in the app backend. The device token is removed during account deletion.
Website activity
Public gift and fridge pages may record that a gift link was opened or that a public fridge was viewed. A signed-in viewer may be associated with that view. Anonymous views are not assigned to an app account, although hosting providers may process ordinary technical information such as IP address, browser type, request time, and security logs.
The current website provides public information pages and a local designer-application download. It does not currently provide public gift or fridge pages. The website form does not send application details or artwork to us; the app’s designer submission flow is separate.
Support communications
If you contact us, we process your email address, message, attachments, receipts you choose to provide, and any information needed to answer or investigate the request.
Designer applications
We may collect the applicant’s name, email, portfolio URL, location, country, region, creative discipline, proposal, originality declaration, artwork submissions, review status, assignments, and earnings records.
3. How we use information
We use personal data to:
- Create, authenticate, secure, and synchronize accounts.
- Verify travel check-ins and destination eligibility.
- Maintain collections, fridge layouts, gifts, follows, and wishlists.
- Verify purchases, deliver purchased content, restore purchases, and process refunds or revocations.
- Deliver notifications selected by the user.
- Operate public fridge and gift pages where available.
- Review designer applications and artwork.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, duplicate claims, and unauthorized access.
- Provide customer support.
- Maintain transaction, custody, security, and administrative audit records.
- Comply with legal, accounting, tax, and App Store obligations.
- Improve reliability using limited operational and error information.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use personal data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
4. Legal bases
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, processing is based on:
- Contract: operating accounts, purchases, gifts, collections, and requested services.
- Consent: optional notifications, selected photo uploads, and user-requested location access.
- Legitimate interests: service security, fraud prevention, reliability, abuse handling, and limited operational records.
- Legal obligations: tax, accounting, transaction, refund, regulatory, and lawful-request requirements.
You may withdraw permission for Location, Photos, or Notifications through iOS Settings, where a permission is shown. PhotosPicker provides access only to the items you select and does not require unrestricted library permission. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing.
5. How information is shared
Apple
Apple processes App Store purchases, refunds, StoreKit transaction data, Sign in with Apple, push notifications, and App Store analytics under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
App backend
The app uses hosted infrastructure for authentication, database, server functions, synchronization, and file storage.
Website hosting
This website is hosted on Microsoft Azure.
Cloudflare and domain infrastructure
Cloudflare or other DNS/security providers may process network and security information required to deliver and protect the domain. The final production provider list and hosting arrangement must be confirmed before publishing.
Service providers process information only to provide their contracted services. We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect users or the service, or during a lawful business transfer.
We do not share personal data with data brokers or third-party advertising networks.
6. Public information and sharing
A public fridge may expose your display name, username, profile image, magnet collection, acquisition dates, and fridge arrangement on mydigitalmagnets.com when public fridge sharing is available.
Fridges are private by default and become public only when enabled. Users can change fridge visibility in the app’s Settings.
Gift links may expose the sender’s display name, magnet name, magnet location, creation or expiry information, and gift status. Gift messages and recipient details are not displayed on the public web gift page.
Anything included in a shareable link may be viewed by anyone who receives that link.
7. Data retention
Account data is kept while the account remains active.
Check-ins, collections, fridge state, gifts, follows, wishlists, notification preferences, designer applications, and device tokens are deleted when the account is successfully deleted, except where retention is legally required.
Apple transaction and accounting records may be retained after account deletion in de-identified or legally required form for fraud prevention, refunds, accounting, tax, and transaction integrity. Apple separately retains App Store purchase history under its own policies.
Security, delivery, support, and hosting logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, troubleshooting, legal obligations, or dispute resolution.
Public gift links expire according to the period shown when the gift is created. Current gift claim links expire after 15 days.
8. Account deletion
In the app, open Settings and choose “Delete account and local data.” Follow the confirmation steps shown in the app.
Successful deletion removes the authentication account, active sessions, profile, cloud snapshot, fridge, collection, check-ins, travel windows, gifts, follows, wishlists, notification preferences, designer application data, and device tokens associated with the account.
The app also removes its local account data from the device.
Some de-identified transaction, accounting, security, or legally required records may remain. App Store purchase history remains controlled by Apple.
If you cannot access the app, visit https://mydigitalmagnets.com/account-deletion or contact privacy@mydigitalmagnets.com.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your account and personal data.
- Receive a portable copy of applicable data.
- Restrict or object to processing.
- Withdraw consent.
- Complain to your local data-protection authority.
Send requests to privacy@mydigitalmagnets.com. We may verify identity before completing a request.
10. Children
My Digital Magnets is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum digital-consent age required in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below that age. Contact privacy@mydigitalmagnets.com if you believe a child supplied personal data.
11. Security
We use authenticated server access, encrypted HTTPS connections, Apple-signed purchase verification, Keychain session storage, database access controls, and restricted file-storage paths. No system is completely secure.
Sign in with Apple uses a cryptographic nonce; Apple may provide name, email, private relay email and an account identifier. App sessions are stored in Keychain, not UserDefaults. App capabilities also include push notifications, Associated Domains for Universal Links and web credentials, App Group storage for app/widget state, and StoreKit 2 purchases.
The app does not request Contacts, microphone, Bluetooth, HealthKit, calendars, motion, advertising ID, App Tracking Transparency or background-location permissions.
12. International transfers
Our processors may handle information outside your country. Where legally required, transfers use recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
13. Changes
We may update this policy when the product, law, or service providers change. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page. Advertising, analytics, tracking pixels, behavioural profiling, fingerprinting, marketing cookies and third-party chat will not be added without first updating this policy, the cookie policy, applicable consent controls and App Store privacy disclosures.
